Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

What is a Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

The mobile concrete batching plant is a highly efficient concrete production equipment that integrates batching, mixing, and transportation functions. With its flexible deployment and rapid transfer characteristics, it is widely used in mobile engineering scenarios such as highways, railways, bridges, and water conservancy projects.

Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

Unlike the stationary concrete batching plant that is set up in a fixed location, the mobile concrete batching plant is designed for easy transportation and can be quickly assembled and dismantled at different project sites.

The mobile concrete batching plant integrates all the main components of a concrete batching plant (such as the mixing host, batching machine, aggregate bins, cement silo, and control system) into one or several mobile trailer units. Essentially, it is a concrete production facility designed for convenient transportation, quick installation, and flexible redeployment as needed.

Features of Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

  • It integrates storage, weighing, conveying, mixing, discharging, and automatic control functions within a single mobile frame.
  • Designed for rapid transportation between different construction sites (usually using trailers or chassis), requiring minimal foundation work during installation.
  • Wide range of capacities, from small equipment (e.g., 25 m³/h) to large equipment (100 m³/h or higher), suitable for mobile batching stations.

Extremely High Mobility and Flexibility

  • Whole-unit towing: main modules are designed as trailer units, easily transported to the next site using a tractor head.
  • Reduced transfer cost and time: avoids the huge expense and time required for dismantling and rebuilding stationary plants.

Quick Installation and Rapid Commissioning

  • Upon arrival at a new site, no complex foundation construction is needed; just lower and level the support legs and connect to external water and power.
  • Installation and production can usually be completed within a few hours to one or two days, making it ideal for projects with tight schedules.

Small Footprint

The compact, integrated design requires far less site space than stationary batching plants, making it especially suitable for urban areas or sites with complex terrain.

Low Investment Cost and Quick Return

  • For small to medium projects or short-term projects, purchasing or renting a mobile station is much more economical than establishing a fixed plant.
  • Can serve multiple projects, with high asset utilization and short investment payback period.

Good Environmental Performance

Modern mobile stations are usually equipped with efficient dust removal systems (dust extraction for the mixer, cement silo top), and powder recovery systems, effectively controlling dust pollution.

By producing close to the construction site, they reduce long-distance transportation of concrete trucks, lowering fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

Applications of Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

  • Construction sites where frequent relocation of the batching plant is required (road construction, remote areas, temporary projects)
  • Projects that require shortening concrete transport distance/time (to maintain quality, reduce slump loss, etc.)
  • Situations where setting up a stationary batching plant is impractical due to logistics, space, permits, or other reasons
  • Highway and railway construction: especially linear projects that advance continuously as construction progresses.
  • Water conservancy and hydropower projects: usually located in remote areas, where building a stationary plant is costly.
  • Bridge construction: providing dedicated concrete for individual bridge projects.
  • Military engineering and emergency rescue: requiring rapid deployment and high mobility.
  • Small to medium construction sites: areas where ready-mix concrete supply is inconvenient or expensive.
  • Precast component factories: when production tasks are irregular or flexible adjustment of production location is needed.

Components of Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

A typical mobile batching plant is usually integrated into one or two trailer units:

  • Aggregate batching system: includes aggregate bins, belt conveyors (often designed to be foldable), for storage and measurement of sand and gravel.
  • Powder storage and measurement system: cement silo, screw conveyor, powder weighing scale.
  • Water and admixture system: water tank, water pump, water metering scale, admixture storage tank.
  • Mixing host: usually a compulsory mixer, the core component for concrete production.
  • Control system: centralized electrical control system, allowing operators to perform all operations from the control room.
  • Pneumatic system: provides power to all actuating elements.
  • Chassis and frame: the mobile foundation of the entire equipment, equipped with towing pins and support legs.

Advantages of Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

  • Fast installation: many models require minimal or no foundation, meaning they can be quickly put into production.
  • Flexibility/Mobility: due to its mobile-friendly design, a mobile concrete batching plant is easier to relocate to a new site than a stationary plant.
  • Cost savings: lower installation and civil engineering costs compared to stationary plants; reduces the need to transport ready-mix concrete from off-site plants.
  • Quality and control: having the plant on or near the site allows better control of concrete mix, freshness, and logistics.

Types of Mobile Concrete Batching Plants

Classification by Mobility and Features

Mobile concrete batching plants are mainly divided into trailer-mounted and towed types according to mobility. In recent years, special types such as crawler-mounted and truck-mounted have appeared. The specific differences are as follows:

  • Tractor-type batching plant: chassis contains complete front and rear axles (similar to a heavy-duty truck chassis), with strong driving stability and load capacity, requires a large tractor to tow, towing speed up to 50 km/h; suitable for long-distance relocation and rough road conditions.
  • Towed batching plant: chassis contains only the rear axle, front placed on the tractor saddle, compact structure, light weight, requires a medium tractor (lower power), flexible relocation with low transport cost; suitable for short-distance relocation and space-constrained scenarios.
  • Special types: crawler type suitable for mountainous, wetland, and other complex terrains; truck-mounted type directly installed on a truck chassis, offering stronger mobility and rapid deployment capability.

Classification by Technology and Process Features

According to the mixing process principle, it is mainly divided into gravity (self-falling) type and compulsory type, with core differences as shown in the table below:

Type Working Principle Technical Features Applicable Concrete Type
Gravity (Self-falling) Gravity action: as the drum rotates, curved blades lift materials to 0.7 times the diameter, then materials fall under their own weight to achieve mixing. Low wear on parts, easy to clean, mobile; but high power consumption, low efficiency. Plastic concrete, low-flow concrete (not suitable for dry-hard or lightweight aggregate concrete)
Compulsory Forced mixing: blades rotate around vertical/horizontal axis, forcibly shearing, pushing, and tumbling the materials. High mixing quality, high efficiency, easy operation, high safety index; but high wear on parts, high power consumption, high maintenance cost, strict limitation on aggregate size. Dry-hard concrete, high-strength concrete, lightweight aggregate concrete (mainstream type is twin-shaft compulsory)

Classification by Production Capacity

According to production capacity, they are divided into small, medium, large, and ultra-small/ultra-large special types.

Type Production Capacity (m³/h) Main Models Core Configuration Applicable Scenarios
Small 25-50 YHZS25, YHZS35, YHZS50 2-3 aggregate bins (5-10 m³ each), cement silo 50-100 tons Small and medium construction, rural infrastructure, small bridges/culverts
Medium 50-100 YHZS60, YHZS75, YHZS90 3-4 aggregate bins (10-15 m³ each), cement silo 100-200 tons Highway construction, bridge projects, water conservancy and hydropower (most widely used in the market)
Large ≥100 YHZS120, YHZS150, YHZS180 ≥4 aggregate bins (total capacity 40-60 m³), cement silo 200-300 tons Highways, large bridges, water conservancy hubs
Special Types 10-25 (ultra-small); ≥200 (ultra-large) Custom models Configured as needed Micro projects, ultra-large infrastructure

Considerations/Factors for Mobile Concrete Batching Plant

  • Capacity vs Demand: Ensure the production rate of the batching plant matches your concrete demand (e.g., m³/h), otherwise bottlenecks may occur.
  • Transportation and Relocation Logistics: Even for mobile plants, moving large equipment incurs costs (transport permits, trailers, installation time).
  • Foundation/Base Work: "Minimal foundation" still requires some site preparation (leveling the ground, possible sub-base).
  • Complexity of Concrete Mix Design: Some mobile plants may not offer the same flexibility or functions as large stationary plants—check capabilities (admixtures, special mixes).
  • Wear and Maintenance: Since mobile plants may be frequently relocated and use modular designs, manufacturing quality and maintenance are crucial.
  • Local Regulations/Site Requirements: Permits, emissions, dust control, and noise regulations may still apply.

Mobile Concrete Batching Plant Selection Guide

  • Production Capacity: Choose the appropriate model based on the project's concrete demand and schedule (e.g., HZS60, HZS90).
  • Mobile Configuration: Decide between "single-unit mobile" (all components integrated on one chassis) or "dual-unit mobile" (aggregate batching and mixing host on separate chassis); the latter usually has higher production capacity.
  • Site and Traffic Conditions: Consider requirements for road width, load capacity, and turning radius during equipment relocation.
  • Environmental Configuration: Ensure dust and noise reduction systems comply with local regulations.
  • Brand and After-sales Service: Choose reputable brands to ensure timely technical support and spare parts supply.
